NEXT MEETING

 

Snowbirds will be coming back so our meeting attendance should be increasing. The next meeting is Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 7:00 PM in La Hacienda Recreation Center. Donuts, coffee and tea will be furnished.

 

 

SPEAKER

 

A member of the Lady Lake Police Department K9 Unit is scheduled to give a demonstration.

 

 

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS

 

At our November 2007 meeting it was voted to support the Christian Food Pantry in Lady Lake or other needy Food Pantries by bringing canned or dried food products to each of our meetings so we hope you will bring what you can.

 

 

SICK BAY

 

If any member becomes aware of a sick member or spouse whom we should respond to, let Helen Cusack or Mike Varga know.  Contact Helen at 753-1873 or at Dove11@comcast.net

 

SUMMER PICNIC

 
The picnic was held on September 28th at the Mulberry Grove Recreation Center.  Apparently it was a success however not everyone showed up.  Joe White took some pictures and they are on the website under Events.

 

 

 LAKE COUNTY SO HR 218 QUALIFYING

Lake County Sheriff’s Department has scheduled an HR 218 qualifying session.
Where:      Lake Tech Center Institute of Public Safety Range, 13000 Frankies Road Tavares, FL 32778.
When:       Saturday October 18, 2008 
Time:         8:00 am- 4:00 pm
                   Qualifications will be conducted in two sessions
                   Session 1 will be from 8:00 am till Lunch Time
                   Session 2 will be from 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm

*Should you wish to attend the luncheon and the afternoon session, please arrive at the range at 11:30 am.  Adults are welcome so you may bring your spouse.  Please no children due to the nature of the operation. For those who are going to be qualifying please dress accordingly; long pants and closed toe shoes. No shorts or flip flops.

1. Name as it appears on your retired LEO identification card and Department from which you retired
2. Social Security number
3. Weapon make, model, caliber and serial number

Shirts: 

Both members and spouses shirts can be ordered at 3 Amigos Pro Shop next to McCall’s Restaurant.  There are Club Jackets available through Audrey Williams (406-7609).

 

 

SECRETARY’S CORNER

 

2009 dues of $10 are not due until January 2009 but if you wish to avoid the big January rush you can bring a check for $10 made out to “Police and Fire Retirees Club” to the October or November meetings.
