The next meeting is

LaHacienda Rec Center.
The
speaker for the meeting will be
Chief Ed Nathanson of the Lady Lake
Police Department speaking
on the “Help Them Call Home Program.” Donuts, coffee and tea
will be furnished.

There are Club Jackets

DUES
2010 dues of $10
are now due.
If you have not paid, please
bring a check for $10 made out to “Police and Fire Retirees
Club” to the February meeting.
CLUB PICNIC
Mike
has made arrangements for our club picnic to be held on
Sunday, March 21 at Mulberry Grove Rec Center.
The cost per club member and
spouse will be $6.50. Checks and signups will be taken at
the February meeting.
More details will be announced
at the meeting.

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS
At our November 2007 meeting it was voted
to support the Christian Food Pantry in Lady Lake or other
needy Food Pantries by bringing canned or dried food
products to each of our meetings so we hope you will bring
what you can.
VETERANS SALUTING
A
club member forwarded this which was passed as part of the
Defense Authorization Act of 2008. "Sec. 594. Conduct by
members of the Armed Forces and Veterans out of uniform
during hoisting, lowering, or passing of United States Flag.
Section 9 of title 4, United States Code
“Members of
the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in
uniform may render the military salute.”
AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION
The Officers have
proposed amendments for three Articles of the Constitution
that will be presented to the membership this month for
voting on.
The changes are in red and
underlined with deletions having a strikethrough.
The amendments are on the next
page.

ARTICLE IV
MEMBERSHIP
SECTION 3
A non-voting honorary
membership may be prescribed for a worthy adult resident of
the community, provided that said individual has been
proposed in accordance with the bylaws
of the organization.
The spouse of a member shall
automatically become an honorary member.
ARTICLE V
OFFICERS
SECTION 1
The government of
this organization shall be vested in an executive board.
This board will be charged with the management of the
organization within the established policy of the
membership.
A spouse of a member may be
eligible for election to the position of Secretary.
SECTION 2

ARTICLE VI
ELECTIONS
SECTION 1
The officers of this organization shall be
elected to biennial offices
by ballot during the regular monthly meeting of May with the
first nominations in April.
The President and Treasurer shall be
elected in even years and the Vice President and Secretary
shall be elected during odd years.

will constitute a quorum for the purpose of electing said
officers.
